Tornado Tangling Class

Last Friday Art Clubbers and I had a class covering the Tornado Tangling (or Pinwheel) string, combined with “Cornucopia style” tangling. We started class by understanding how this most beloved and classic string works and how to build it properly.

For this project, we used some very conventional and well known tangles:

Tangles we used were Shattuck, Icanthis, Flukes, Mooka (all Zentangle) and a couple of tangleations Rixty3D, Mooka3D (my own).

We used a “Cornucopia” to fill up the tornadoes:

And after tangling obviously did some shading:
