Tangled Journal Tiles Lesson
Another SUPER FUN class on Zoom on Saturday with my Art Clubbers. This time we worked on Tangled Journal Tiles. These are "starter” tiles I use to get me into the mood of journaling, and contain random words or dates, and some dramatic tangling.
We started the class by analyzing several examples of my most recent Tangled Journal tiles, and understanding the different components.
We analyzed the different options of layout and string…
…and spent quite a long time adding the starter phrase to the design, using overlowing frames and learning concepts of contrast/drama.
We explored the tangle Fracas (Zentangle) for the top portion of the Journal Tile.
We also used the tangle Tortuca (Zentangle) on the bottom half of the tile, using dramatic shading to enhance the dimensional grid.
Here's the final tile, after all the tangling and shading was completed:
Here's another tile I had made before, in preparation for the class, using tangle African Artist (Tina Hunziker) and A-frame (Angie Gittles). You can also see some Diva Dance and Crescent Moon there (both by Zentangle).
The class had about 50 participants on Zoom and lasted just over 3 hours. What fun!!!!
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like!
Another Journal Tile with a combo between Uvula (Oswaldo Burbano) and Drawings (Zentangle). On the side you can also see Rixty and an Opus border. Pink pink everywhere, whew!
