Found and Tangled Poetry
Like everybody else I’ve been on a rampage of participating in online classes on Zoom and instagram. On Friday, I took the VERY FUN class with Deb Bowyer on Found & Tangled Poetry.
The idea is to find unexpected poetry on a page of a book that is recycled. Since I cannot bring myself to tear the pages of any book, even a bad one, I printed a page of book in public domain (Composition by Arthur Wesley Dow) that I found online at archive.org. This is what the original showed:
I thought it very appropriate that the page was about Notan, finding balance between light and dark, particularly appropriate for the times we live in. Here is the “poem” I found in the pages:
Dark and light melts into scientific
Rather than lack of experience.
Earlier values manifest
as a foundation.
Love that! Says everything and says nothing at the same time. Fun! The final piece was made with tangles Antique (Kathy Barringer) and also Mooka, Tipple, Diva Dance, Printemps and Poke Leaf (all Zentangle, Inc). The background was painted with watercolor pencils.
