Entangled Birds and Reptiles

Just wrapped up the second and last part of the Entangled Animals class with my Art Clubbers. We continued where the Entangled Fish stopped, exploring the characteristics of more complex animals, covering the features of Birds and Reptiles.

The idea was to create an unexpected tangled piece with animals — not a landscape or seascape, with no up or down, completely unplanned, so that the creatures would emerge from the string.

What I like about this process is that the animals are not that different from each other, small changes in the features can create completely crazy and weird fantastical creatures.

We covered different ways of letting the birds emerge from the picture, complementing the string to create birds of different shapes and in different positions.

My favorite thing is watching the creatures appear on the string, unexpectedly and unplanned.

Love looking at all those crazy creatures developing from each person’s unique style.

Such a fuuuun lesson!
