DaVinci Zendala Class
Today Art Club members and I had a fantastic class on how to create this beautiful Zendala inspired by Leonardo da Vinci and the Zentangle's Zen Again 2021 class inspired on that same topic.
We started by exploring the Flower of Life pattern - in Zentangle lingo also known as Quandary.
We then moved on to the crazy Rixty contraption - a tree or something - developed by Maria Thomas for Zen Again.
Added Narwal (Sam Taylor) and Gourdgeous (Zentangle) and started to add detailed shading:
Here’s the final picture again:
And here are some variations I had created before class:
And here is a partial mosaic of the pieces made by Art Clubbers who attended the live class on zoom.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
This arch is adapted from a Renaissance arch from the book “Suggestions of Design” by John Leighton and James Colling (1880) found on archive dot org. I also added some Found Flowers on a frame around the arch. Shaded and colored with Inktense and Pitt Artist Brush pens. If you goto my blog you'll see I wasn’t able to stay faithful to the original - I love the way my hand just takes over and adds whatever details it feels like.
