Playing with Romanancy and Heartrope

Lately I've been playing with the Romanancy, a concept by Zentangle that is inspired in the beautiful striped columns found in romanesque churches, especially in Italy and France. This concept reproduces the effect of deep perspective that can be observed by someone standing near these columns looking upward.

This coming Wednesday, Art Clubbers and I will have an advanced live online session on this topic, starting with a “virtual tour” to Sienna, Italy, so that we can appreciate in-person the perspective distortion.

While I anxiously wait for Wednesday to arrive, I played with Romanancy, combining it with Heartrope tangle (Bunny Wright) and also a few ribbon-looking Hollibaugh.

I love the dramatic shadows behind each column, such a neat effect. Here's a close-up for you to inspect:

My online sessions are free to all members of my Art Club Membership, you can find more information here.
