Knotted Medallions Lesson now back again

I continue to pass some of the older lessons to the new lessons website on teachable. This is a fantastic lesson on how to create knotted star medallions over graph paper. I'm looking at it and amazed at myself, this is an ADVANCED lesson, not for the faint of heart!

The lesson covers how to create these medallions using CROSSED ribbons, very similar to Celtic Knots. What I like about this lesson is that it's not a single project where you copy identically what I made; instead, the lesson covers the concepts of symmetry to show you how to create your own star designs.

The lesson also shows plenty of technique, and most especially how to hatch these gorgeous crossed ribbons with fine-liners so that you get ultra dimensional and dramatic stars.

After create the knotted design, you will fill the negative space with tangles and patterns, and the lesson shows you how to select the best ones and how to treat it so that the tangles are not fighting the knotted ribbons.

Then, after filling up the design with more tangles, the lesson also shows you how to shade these star medallions so that you're emphasizing the right things and creating a STUNNING design:

You can create this design in two colors or even all black and white. The dramatic effect of the hatched ribbons is present even when creating it only black and white:

Make no mistake, this is a project that is going to take a while to complete, but the results are SIMPLY unbelievable. You can view the Student Gallery here: Pinterest
