Doodle Plus Video Lesson

Have you ever seen those doodles created by online artists who look incredibly intricate and wondered “how in the world did they do that?” For a long time I've been fascinated by doodlers who manage to elevate plain scribbling to fantastic pieces of art. I've observed hundreds of these doodles, analyzing every little detail, and came up with a few “guidelines” on how to create these amazing drawings.

The secret sauce to creating these great doodles is mostly in using patterns that are similar but not the same, and by using carefully placed hatching to create depth and rich detail. I call this technique “Doodle Plus”, because it's so much more than regular doodling!

One important thing to remember is that doodling of any kind is NOT Zentangle. As a Certified Zentangle Teacher, I believe I have a good understanding of the differences between the two. Zentangle has a clear 8 step method and ceremony, while Doodle (Plus or not) is random drawing. With that said, Doodle Plus does have some similarities with Zentangle in that it also uses repetitive patterns, even though they have no formal names, and the results are very abstract.

Another similarity to Zentangle is that Doodle Plus is HIGHLY meditative. The secret to producing great doodles is all in the hatching and detail and that can provide hours of blissful Zen flow.

The Doodle Plus lesson contains a 37-minute video lesson, and includes the “Video to Ebook” PDF with 27 pages and tons of illustrations. I also included a ton of little bonus PDFs, with patterns and case studies.
