DaVinci Zendala
Last November 2021 I participated in Zentangle's ZenAgain conference for CZTs, which helps teachers find inspiration for new classes. My all time favorite class was the one related to Leonardo DaVinci’s sketch books, and I was just having a ton of fun with the “inventions” the Zentangle family came up with to fill up the tan opus tile.
Here’s the page I created during that class.
For several weeks I imagined a Zendala made with the different elements created in that class, and this is the first result. There were many other tests, some I liked more than others. I'll post them here soon.
You can see the elements combined there:
Here's another shot:
And here again, you can see a glimpse of another piece inspired by DaVinci’s sketcbooks (I’ll post that more on that later).
A live class on this piece is coming this Thursday, March 3, 2022 for members of my Art Club.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
This arch is adapted from a Renaissance arch from the book “Suggestions of Design” by John Leighton and James Colling (1880) found on archive dot org. I also added some Found Flowers on a frame around the arch. Shaded and colored with Inktense and Pitt Artist Brush pens. If you goto my blog you'll see I wasn’t able to stay faithful to the original - I love the way my hand just takes over and adds whatever details it feels like.
