Brooches!

In my last live class I taught Art Club members how to create golden nuggets. Participants did a great job, but after working diligently on their projects, on student put it quite succinctly: “Now what?”

I spent a few days playing with it to come up with a design of a “Tangled Brooch” which can frame a golden nugget (or a Zen gemstone, for that matter). I LOVE how dramatic these turned out!

This one was the first one, using gems, tangles Toodles and Knase (both Zentangle) and a square version of Scoodle (also Zentangle).

Here's the before and after pictures, you can see how much brighter the nugget becomes when it is framed.

The next one is similar to the first, but I used a different shape, and different tangles. Mooka, Doodah, both by Zentangle, and also Kensington (Anoeska Waardenburg). I also replaced the smaller gems with pearls.

For the next one I used a Zen gemstone instead of a golden nugget — and LOVE the color combo. Tangles are Footlites (Carole Ohl), Shattuck, Diva Dance and Verdigogh (both Zentangle).

These Tangled Brooches are the topic of my next class!
