Tangled Terrarium

A terrarium is a small glass container — usually sealable — containing soil and plants, artfully arranged in a graceful composition. I love these miniature gardens and I've been toying with the idea of how to create a tangled version, how I would compose and arrange the various types of “plants” and “rocks”. I'm really happy with how the first one came out!

I love how organic it looks, very self contained just like a real terrarium. I used tangles IX and Molygon (Zentangle), Fat Paper (Livia Chua), Hexonu (Cheryl Moote), Sprocket (Vera Giesbrecht) and a few “leaf fragments” (something else I've been toying with). Here's a small step-out:

What I liked the most about it was that there was a real method to the process, the tangles were selected very specifically to follow a set of guidelines that I've been playing with in my head for weeks. Aside from that, the amount of zen flow was really good, even with the shading, very rhythmic. I REALLY like this!!!! Here's a close-up:
