Queen's Quilt - Tangling with Gold

Here is another picture from the new ebook Tangling with Gold. This is a technique I call "The Queen's Quilt", because it's so luxuriously busy and looks like a regal quilt. 

The picture started with a regular 3.5 inch tile, with a busy string:

Each section of the string was painted with watercolors -- including gold watercolors:

After painting, the fun began! Tangling with different pens over each section. The ebook explains in detail the different types of media, and how each one should be used over different colored backgrounds. 

The result is an exquisitely busy quilt:

You really can't see the sparkle of gold until you see it tilted, at an angle:
