Popup Flower
I'm so excited about this next upcoming class for my Art Clubbers. This is a 3-dimensional pop-up flower card that can be neatly folded and sent through the mail. Here you can see how it folds:
I want to do a shout out and thanks to Duncan Birmingham’s Popup Channel on Youtube, which I’ve been watching for the last year. He does a fabulous job in explaining all the different mechanisms of pop-up cards. This one is a parallel fold with an open top, (imagine an upside-down cone).
Still, even with his great tutorials, it took me several months and many frustrated attempts to figure out the template for this flower.
Once I figured it out, then the rest was all fun, painting with watercolors and tangling.
I had so much fun developing this project! The class will go live this coming Sunday December 12 2021 at 10am Pacific for all members of my Art Club. After that, a video recording will be available for purchase next year.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
Another super weird pop-up! Here I used a twisting mechanism, which rotates 90 degrees as the card opens and closes. On top of that I added a number of add-ons and the result is pretty crazy! Tangles are Twing, Crescent Moon, Printemps (all Zentangle) and also Fescurus Verae (Veronica Vazquez Orozco) and some other things that don't have names.
