Gilded Arukas

Arukas (Zentangle) is one of those patterns I have a love/hate relationship. I love the way that it looks, but it I really don't like shading it, because it forms a sort of flat weave. 

Well, guess what? It's just PERFECT for my Tangling with Gold technique. Doesn't require too much shading and forms a super beautiful woven pattern. I made the lines a little farther apart to make room for embellishments and it turned out so much fun!

I'm particularly happy with the way this one turned out, with some golden rays and the gem in the center, all done with watercolors and other mixed media.

The whole point of this one was to play with the paints, color and gilding. What fun! Was a great case study for the Tangling with Gold book. Here are a couple more pictures:
